Book Clubs

Reading opens up whole new worlds and teaches many different things depending on what is being read. Whether it is fiction and you are using your imagination to visualize or non-fiction and you are learning more about the world around you, reading is an important part of life, starting in early childhood and lasting throughout one’s life. Book clubs make reading fun and inviting for people of all ages.

There are various types of book clubs depending on the type of books you want to give or receive. However, the basic premise is the same. Typically, you receive an introductory offer of a quantity of books and then you are billed monthly for a pre-determined number of books to be delivered to your door. The convenience factor is a big seller, especially for avid book readers.

Book clubs for children are great gifts that help them learn to read, count and use their imagination. Some are based on particular children’s authors, such as Dr. Seuss, and others that are based on children’s movies such as the Disney books. Children love getting their monthly delivery of books and parents get to spend quality time reading to their children as they learn as well.

Teen and adult book clubs are similar but have more choices that have to be decided on. You can choose to join a fiction book club and not specify a particular genre. This means that you will be sent random fiction titles on a monthly basis. On the other hand, if you prefer a particular genre, such as romance or thrillers, some book clubs allow you to specify that in your membership plan.

There are Christian and religious based book clubs that will always make sure your selections are faith based, depending on the faith you specified during your registration process. These clubs make excellent gifts for family members and friends who enjoy reading but want to make sure they are not sent books that are offensive.

There are literally hundreds of book clubs online; including what is probably the most recognized name, Doubleday. Doubleday has been in busy for many, many years and keeps it customers by constantly offering incentives for signing up and continuing to offer the most up-to-date titles and authors.

When searching for book clubs there are some things that you can look for that will help you to narrow down your choices. If you have a particular list of books you would like to read search for a book club that will allow you to complete a selection list that they will then draw from when choosing your books.

Make sure you are looking at delivery charges. Some clubs absorb this cost as an added incentive to get customers to choose them. Read the fine print to familiarize yourself with all charges that could be incurred. Some clubs will have a minimum purchase that you must make within a certain amount of time. Be certain that you know if this applies to the club. Also find out if they have a return policy. If so, it is probably for unopened packages.

Book clubs are gifts that can take the recipient around the world and to places unknown through the power of the word and imagination. Books club memberships can open doors to young children that will keep them reading for life. Find a good book club and treat yourself or someone special to the world of reading.
